AULA VERDE, CLIMATE ART PROJECT FOR THE EARTH DAY.

For Earth Day, April 22nd, the artist and scientist Andreco, together with citizens, environmentalists and researchers, has created a work of Land Art which is also a free access social area, a nature-based solution and a climate action.

AULA VERDE, was created in the Aniene Natural Reserve in Rome, after a long participatory process that involved scientific researchers, activists and citizens of all ages, through workshops, performances and debates. The name AULA VERDE comes from the shape of the work, made up of poplar and willow trees, Polulus Alba and Salix Alba, arranged on two large concentric centres with a diameter of forty metres that forms a sort of Green Pantheon which can be accessed freely. The work is alive and over the years it will take shape and as it grows it will return innumerable benefits to the territory, currently studied by the researchers involved in the project, both for the purification of the water and for the redevelopment of the surrounding greenery. AULA VERDE is also a Green Infrastructure, a pilot project of Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change mitigation and adaptation.

AULA VERDE is in fact part of FLUMEN, a movement of climate actions for rivers and parks in Rome, and a project intersecting art and science conceived by the artist Andreco and organised by the cultural association Climate Art Project. A multifaceted initiative, FLUMEN includes the environmental monitoring of the waters and the ecosystems of the two rivers of Rome, the Tiber and the Aniene, as well as workshops, performances, exhibitions and tree plantings.

FLUMEN, promoted by Roma Culture, is the winner of the public contest entitled Eureka! Roma 2020-2021-2022, organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs and is created in collaboration with SIAE and with an important network of artistic and scientific partners: the National Research Council, CNR IRET, CNR IBPM, University of La Sapienza, University of Rome TRE, MAXXI, Palaexpo Special Company, Baruchello Foundation, Insieme per l’Aniene Onlus, CSA-Semi di Comunità, smART Foundation, ARPA LAZIO, Agenda Tevere, Joint Cultural Initiatives. FLUMEN is also included in the three-year action plan envisaged by the Tiber River Contract relating to the river auction from Castel Giubileo to the mouth of the Tiber.

AULA VERDE: CLIMATE ART PROJECT PER LA GIORNATA DELLA TERRA DEL 22 APRILE

Il video racconta la genesi dell’Aula Verde, creata sulle rive dell’Aniene in un processo partecipativo il 17 aprile. L’opera prenderà forma negli anni e crescendo restituirà al territorio innumerevoli benefici. In occasione del Giorno della Terra, la giornata indetta il 22 aprile dalle Nazioni Unite per celebrare l’ambiente, l’artista e scienziato Andreco, insieme a cittadini, ambientalisti e ricercatori, realizza nell’ambito del progetto FLUMEN un’opera di Land Art che è anche un servizio ecosistemico ed un’azione per la mitigazione e l’adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici. Il 17 aprile, Andreco insieme a cittadini, ricercatori e ambientalisti, ha realizzato un’Aula verde, un’opera di Land Art ed un luogo d’incontro e socializzazione per tutti, ideale per la didattica ambientale a cielo aperto. È inoltre un’azione per il Clima, un’Infrastruttura Verde, un progetto pilota, nell’ambito di ricerca sulle Nature-Based Solutions, le soluzioni che utilizzano le piante ed i processi della natura per risolvere i problemi causati dagli esseri umani. Aula Verde, è stata realizzata nella riserva del Parco del fiume Aniene a Roma, dopo un lungo processo partecipativo che ha coinvolto cittadini, ambientalisti e ricercatori, attraverso, workshop, performance e dibattiti. Il nome deriva dalla forma dell’opera, composta da alberi di pioppo bianco e salice bianco, Populus Alba e Salix Alba, disposti su due grandi centri concentrici con diametro quaranta metri che vanno a formare una sorta di Pantheon Verde nel quale si può accedere liberamente. L’opera prenderà forma negli anni e crescendo restituirà al territorio innumerevoli benefici, attualmente studiati dai ricercatori coinvolti nel progetto, sia per quanto riguarda la depurazione delle acque, che per la qualità dell’aria, la mitigazione delle temperature e la riqualificazione del verde ripariale. L’AULA VERDE infatti fa parte di FLUMEN, climate actions per i fiumi ed i parchi a Roma, il progetto tra arte e scienza ideato dall’artista Andreco e organizzato dall’associazione culturale Climate Art Project. Un progetto articolato che prevede monitoraggi ambientali delle acque e dell’ecologia dei fiumi di Roma, Tevere e Aniene, workshop, performance mostre e piantumazioni.

FLUMEN, promosso da Roma Culture è vincitore dell’Avviso Pubblico Eureka!Roma 2020-2021-2022 curato dal Dipartimento Attività Culturali ed è realizzato in collaborazione con SIAE e con un’importante rete di partner artistici e scientifici: Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CNR IRET, CNR IBPM, Università degli Studi La Sapienza, Università Roma TRE, MAXXI, Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, Fondazione Baruchello, Insieme per l’Aniene Onlus, CSA-Semi di Comunità, Fondazione smART, ARPA LAZIO, Agenda Tevere, Joint Cultural Initiatives. Il progetto Flumen è anche inserito nelle azioni triennali previste dal Contratto di Fiume Tevere relativo all’asta fluviale da Castel Giubileo alla foce.
